A Daily Dose of Skating: Pocket Skates

By: Eddy Granciano and Emilio Palomares

Exhaustion, fatigue, a floating consciousness. All feelings you might’ve felt the minute you wake up BUT WAIT YOU’LL BE LATE. WHAT NOW? Grab your backpack, put on your favorite pair of shoes, and more importantly grab your pocket skates case and get moving. You simply need to attach the skates to your shoes and get rolling on the streets. With these new attachable skates you get to where you need to go quicker than just walking. Not everyone has vehicle availability and sometimes buses might be inconvenient for people.

With the Pocket Skates, we seek to give people the opportunity to have faster and portable transportation at will. You can put these skates on or off and take them with you anywhere and have them on any shoe of your choice. You may not be able to travel really long distances like a car but you can always travel short distances much faster and in a much more fun way.

So far we are proud of the idea so far and starting this week we will start sketching out ideas on how to make this idea into a reality. First we’ll start by making out some concept sketches and then once we narrow it down to a preferred sketch. We’ll be able to either use the parts at our school or even 3D print necessary pieces from our Ender V2 printers.

Our final words, we are very excited and enthusiastic with this idea and hoping that we can really create something on our own for the first time and this will be our first creation as engineers. This project will be a milestone in our careers and that we can look back on this years from now and see how far we have come.
